Additional EMI Filter Solutions We Offer
In addition to our selection of standard product offerings, Captor Corporation also offers a range of additional EMI filter solutions. Our full-service support begins with your product's conception and includes everything from prototyping to testing and more.
Design & Prototyping
Captor Corporation has developed over 10,000 designs and offers complete engineering support, from your project's inception to completion. Our design and prototyping services include:
- Filter circuit analysis and design
- Quick prototyping turn-around
- Filter packaging and layout
- Design and fabrication support for any imaginable chassis configuration
- Build to print services
Testing & Safety
All Captor Corporation products undergo thorough inspection and testing processes to ensure they will perform reliably and withstand environmental challenges. The testing procedures we use include:
- Qualification testing. Performed to provide a baseline for any subsequent acceptance tests and to verify the design and manufacturing process.
- Environment Stress Screening (ESS) testing. Performed to ensure device quality and functionality. Components are exposed to environmental stresses such as vibration and thermal cycling.
- Built-in transient and HEMP/EMP protection. Designed to suppress several forms of EMI, HEMP/EMP protection systems provide targeted protection against intentional EMI, nuclear detonations, or solar flares.
Termination Interfaces
Captor Corporation offers a diverse catalog of termination interfaces and can also design custom interfaces to meet the needs of demanding applications. The products we offer include:
- Threaded terminals. These are commonly used to facilitate the tightening of aircraft cable assemblies.
- Solder terminals. These terminals feature a heat shrink connection as well as internal sealant and withstand use in harsh environments.
- Connectors (military, D-sub, IEC, and commercial, among others). These connectors incorporate electronic circuitry to strip line signals of unwanted HRF or RF noise. Captor Corporation supplies many styles to meet diverse application requirements.
- Wire leads and harnesses. EMI filter cables and wiring systems have a big impact on filter performance. Captor Corporation supplies high-performing solutions tailored to the needs of each application.
- Custom-designed interface. We can build the ideal custom-developed termination solution that adheres to all industry standards.
What Your EMI Filter Can Do For You
Electronic systems are exposed to different types of external electromagnetic noise or interference (EMI), which can impair their performance. To mitigate this problem, EMI filters can be installed to suppress the noise and eliminate the effects of electromagnetic interference. EMI filters are available in numerous types to meet the needs of highly diverse electrical systems.
After an EMI filter is incorporated into an electrical system, it works by delivering higher resistance to high-frequency signals, effectively eliminating the effects of unwanted high-frequency noise. This occurs using a combination of inductors, or small electromagnets, and capacitors. A properly selected EMI filter can protect and regulate highly sensitive electronic systems and ensure their reliable performance. They are used in industries ranging from aerospace and automotive to medical, energy, and more.

Captor Corporation is pleased to introduce a new series of COTS DC and AC single and three phase (Delta and Wye) power line filters for MIL-STD-461 Applications. The COTS Filters are designed to mitigate conducted emissions as specified in the MIL-STD-461 CE102 requirement from 10KHZ to 10MHz. Feed-Through (line to ground) capacitors are incorporated in the filter assemblies to maintain filter attenuation up to 1GHZ and above when installed with additional shielding to isolate input and output compartments.
These filters comply with the electrical requirements and meet the maximum capacitance to ground limits for 60Hz and 400Hz power line frequencies per MIL-STD-461 for Navy applications. The filter mechanical constructions and encapsulated assemblies will withstand the stringent environmental requirements and conditions of all air, sea and ground applications. COTS filter assemblies can also be supplied with Metal Oxide Varistors, circuit breakers and military connectors for I/O connections upon request to comply with system level requirements.
